Preforming the holy pilgrimages of Hajj and Umrah remains a great blessing of Allah Almighty for a believer. Hajj being an obligatory Ibadah gets performed annually through cheap Umrah packageswhile Umrah is a voluntary pilgrimage that is undertaken all-round the year. Though everyone dreams of being able to afford pilgrimage travel, only a few are blessed with these opportunities in their lifetime, as per Allah’s will.
So, if you are also traveling for the pilgrimage soon, here are some dos and don’ts.
The Dos of Pilgrimage Travel.
Preparations.
Before your departure to the kingdom, one must always get the necessary knowledge on the rituals of umrah; travel in the kingdom, and the local rules and regulations associated with them.
In addition, the prohibitions of Ihram must be exceptionally taken care of because when a pilgrim is in the state of Ihram and offering the holy rituals, a lot of conditions are imposed on him/her. Violating any of those conditions would result in a penalty or even make your hajj/umrah performance invalid altogether.
Travel light.
When going for the holy rituals, always pack and travel light. You can do so by only carrying your travel essentials. For instance, this includes your clothes, footwear, medicines, toiletries, travel documents, and everything else that you deem necessary for your travel.
Packing light would not only help you remain organized during your holy trip but also there won’t be any hassles of baggage handling for you.
Be respectful.
While in Haramain, you’ll meet many people of different races, cultures, ethnicities, nations, and languages and it’s possible that you find some people strange but always remain respectful to everyone. It is extremely important to be mindful of pilgrims’ personal boundaries and to be friendly.
Spend your time in Supplication.
Always keep in mind that you’ve come this far with the only purpose of pleasing Allah Almighty. Therefore, try to spend most of your time in supplication;
- Offer your Salah on time.
- Recite the Holy Quran.
- Perform Dhikr.
- Take part in charitable things.
The Don’ts of Pilgrimage Travel.
Indulging yourself in matters that do not concern you.
Don’t ever indulge yourself in matters that don’t concern you directly. You can avoid a lot of awkward situations by refraining from unnecessary talks. Be patient, quiet, and forgiving and try not to quarrel with anybody. If you feel bothered by someone, share it with your organizer and let them handle the matter professionally.
Ignoring Rules and Regulations.
When in the kingdom, a pilgrim is obliged to abide by all of the local rules and regulations. Let it be the concerns related to the accommodation you have, transportation/travel services, or your movement in the country – follow all the guidelines and don’t break the law. These rules only ensure a safe and healthy pilgrimage experience for every pilgrim and breaking them would result in criminal prosecutions.
Complaining.
Remember that pilgrimage travel is a test in itself. You’ll definitely face many difficulties and challenges there, let it be related to travel, accommodation or anything else. However, don’t ever complain or compare yourself with others instead practice patience. Be grateful and content with what you’ve been offered and ask Allah Almighty to grant you the strength to offer the holy rituals properly.
