Once again, I hesitate to call this review a review. Its more like an aside to my own journey through the land of witchers and monsters. Despite everything I said, The Witcher 3 has many problems, and it often falls short on delivering on the promises. The flaws in the game never outweigh the flaws in the story, and what it delivers is a true tale of its world that occasionally stops to look around. At the end of the day, its a great game and hugely enjoyable to play. Just dont take it seriously.

To add some context, The Witcher 3 is a series about the Witcher, a mythical monster hunter. A witcher is not simply a monster slayer, but rather a monster hunter that possess special skills that force them to embrace isolation.
As mentioned, the world of The Witcher 3 looks absolutely stunning on the PS4. Beautiful vistas and landscapes juxtaposed against the darker, gothic style of the monsters, environments, and characters. The game’s horizons are also vast which makes traversing them a relatively breeze. Animation and voices are stellar, especially for a series where every character is voiced by a non-native English speaker. Coupled with an absolute brimming list of weapons, side-quests, and quasi-minigames, Geralt of Rivia is as well stocked as any massive steampunk fantasy world has ever been.
But when everything is wrapped up, The Witcher 3 still doesn’t succeed for me. Any suspension of disbelief you had with the fantasy genre, any reason you might have rooted for the solitary monster hunter, gets blown out of the water by the monotony of an entire campaign. Limping through a perfectly good story like you’re stuck in an animated episode of The Legend of Zelda isn’t a good end to a trilogy. I know what you’re thinking: Trine 3 on PS4 has come to the rescue!
