| HURT | GRIEVOUS HURT |
| 1-Hurt is defined in section 319 of the IPC. Whoever causes bodily harm, disease, or infirmity to any person is said to cause hurt. | Grievous Hurt is defined in section 320 of the IPC. The following kinds of hurt are considered grievous hurt
1- Emasculation 2- Permanent privation of the sight of either eye 3- Permanent privation of the sight of either ear 4- Permanent privation of any member or joint. |

| 4-The offence is non-cognizable, bailable and triable by any magistrate. | The offence is cognizable, bailable, compoundable with the permission of the court before any prosecution of such offence is pending and triable by the court |
| 5-Whoever, except in the case provided by nay section 334, voluntarily causes hurt shall be punished with the imprisonment of one year or with fine or both and the fine of thousand would be extended. | Whoever except in the case provided by nay section 335, voluntarily causes grievous hurt shall be punished with the imprisonment of seven years or with fine or both. |
