saw the trailer for this movie and was very interested. when it came out on dvd i watched it and was very disappointed, thought it was good enough but so much of the story line was lost in the shuffle and in some instances was replaced with studio politics. the whole tale is told a few times but with no real follow through. like i said before the goal was to create a masterpiece in the truest way possible but it fell a little short in that respect. if you want to know what the novel is like watch the trailer and see if you want to get the book. the trailer is a great starting point.
the most important thing about the revenant is that it is a movie that is highly entertaining and extremely well made. it is one of the most beautifully crafted films i have ever seen. i was taken aback by how good it was. the cast and crew were all amazing. the period was created and the film looks amazing. the cinematography is great. the soundtrack is amazing. the editing is wonderful. what more could you ask for? it’s a masterpiece! i highly recommend this film to anyone who loves a good western. i think it is the best western since unforgiven, which is considered one of the best movies of all time!
